Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Rui Patricio from Sporting Lisbon on a free transfer. 

The goalkeeper, who has been with Sporting CP since 2000, is a huge capture for the club. Wolves fans believe a goalkeeper the standard of Patricio, makes further signals that their club isn't just in the Premier league to make up the numbers. Patricio has made over 300 appearances in the Portuguese top flight, and has been with Portugal since under 16 level.

The Portuguese international stopper won the European championship with Portugal in 2016, and is the kind of signing not expected from a newly promoted side, with Carl Ikeme likely to lose his place in the starting eleven to Patricio.

This signing follows the signing of defender Willy Boly from Porto, Nuno Espirito Santo is laying down solid foundations for Wanderers for next season at the back, adding steel to the flair players he has at his disposal.
