Wolves fans right to point out lack of one thing against Newcastle

Wolves fans were absolutely right to point out the lack of depth on the bench when their team against Newcastle United was announced.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side drew 1-1 with the Magpies on Saturday.

Call yourself a Wolves expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

How much did Wolves pay to sign Jonny from Atletico Madrid, 2019

They had Raul Jimenez up front but their options on the bench were Morgan Gibbs-White, defenders Oskar Burr, Ryan Bennett, Ruben Vinagre and Max Kilman, and young forward Benny Ashley-Seal, who has yet to score a goal for the club at senior level.

Perhaps ironically enough, it was defender Leander Dendoncker who scored Wolves’ goal and there was nowhere for Santo to turn when it came to finding goals on the bench.

Tellingly, Santo made just one substitution throughout the entire match, despite his side boasting more than enough possession – 65% – to try and find a winner against the Magpies.

Prior to the game, fans expressed their worries about exactly such a situation and they were proved right.

It really does appear that Wolves need to do some January business.

They have loaned Patrick Cutrone to Fiorentina and they have a void when it comes to forward players, with Diogo Jota also currently sidelined.

Would you be annoyed if Wolves didn't sign anyone this month?

100% yes!

No it's fine..

Going out and bringing a striker in has to be a priority if Wolves are to keep challenging at the sharp end of the league; they were left seventh after their draw with Newcastle.

Meanwhile, one man holds Wolves’ destiny in his hands!
