According to reports from Sky Sports, Wolves are finally close to agreeing a fee with Sporting Lisbon for goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Portuguese international Patricio, like many of his teammates, left the Green and Whites at the end of last season following a training ground attack rumoured to have involved the club's own fans and an ongoing disagreement with club president Bruno de Carvalho (Telegraph).

The 30-year-old rescinded his contract and after jumping ship to the Molineux, has not looked back since. He has been a standout performer under Nuno Espirito Santo, keeping four clean sheets and making 29 saves in eight games and thereby helping his new team to eighth in the Premier League standings on their return to the top flight.

The Midlands club had hopes of signing the shot-stopper for free amidst the controversy but Sporting sought compensation of £50m in July (BBC Sport) and now three months later the two sides appear to have settled on a figure. The £15m which Sporting are set to receive is way off what the 18-time Primeira Liga champions had originally hoped for and looks like a steal considering the custodian's form.

Wolves fans seem to know it as they reacted on Twitter.
