Wolves fans have been left in a frenzy this week after contrasting reports emerged surrounding one of their potential transfer targets, Dani Olmo.

Sky Sports Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the west Midlands side are 'very much' in the race to sign the Spanish playmaker after making the highest offer of €30m (£25.5m) to Dinamo Zagreb, while RB Leipzig's bid of €16m (£13.5m) has been rejected.

While Joe Edwards of the Express & Star has played down such information, so it remains to be seen if Wolves are truly in for the 21-year-old.

Wolves were first linked with him in the summer by Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti and back in December they added further fuel to the fire by claiming the Premier League side had continued to scout Olmo.

Either way, it has caused a storm on social media as the Molineux faithful have been discussing the matter.

Many would love to see Olmo at Wolves, even despite the club nearing the double signing of Nelson Oliveira and Daniel Podence this week.

One supporter claimed the attacking midfielder was exactly the sort of quality the club needed while another echoed these thoughts by labelling him a James Maddison-type player who can play in the hole without leaving top goalscorer Raul Jimenez isolated.

"Top player" was a further shout but Edwards' news led to one man claiming it was the worst Wednesday ever.

However, some weren't keen on the potential addition...

One fan said they weren't bothered while another added that it didn't make any sense with Olympiacos winger Podence set to join.

Others used this opportunity to take a swipe at sporting director Kevin Thelwell...

There were question marks raised over his actual role as it always seems like the only signings the club makes are in some way tied to super-agent Jorge Mendes, leading to this supporter blasting the club for 'poor scouting' and Thelwell being 'not good enough to complete deals' himself.

One member of the Molineux fanbase couldn't believe that they were going to sign AEK Athens striker Oliveira over Olmo.

While some fans made an array of comparisons - one couldn't wait to see the La Masia graduate alongside Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho in the heart of Nuno Santo's midfield whilst another said this saga felt all too similar to the mooted Anderson Talisca move back in 2018.
