Wolverhampton Wanderers pulled off a stunning scalp this afternoon to bolster their chances of playing in Europe once again next season.

Nuno Santo's side clinched all three points in a five-goal thriller against Tottenham Hotspur in north London, but supporters weren't totally pleased by the performance from left wing-back Ruben Vinagre.

Spurs twice held the lead in the first half before Raul Jimenez popped up with the winner in the 73rd minute with a coolly slotted finish.

Wolves have now overtaken Jose Mourinho's men into sixth place to go within three points of the top four.

Vinagre, who played the full 90 minutes in the absence of Jonny, was criticised by fans on social media.

Here's what has been said...

The Portuguese was described as a "liability" and as the "most overrated player in Wolves history" despite contributing towards this outstanding victory.

As per SofaScore, Vinagre failed to provide an accurate cross, lost possession 20 times, recorded six tackles and managed a dribble success rate of just 25%.

Which is why some fans blasted his performance for being "atrocious," "shocking" and "naive."

It was only his fourth start of the Premier League season.

Plenty of others specifically targetted his defending ability...

Some saw his potential lying further up the field, but that's unlikely to happen without an injury crisis as Nuno can call upon Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota and Daniel Podence on the left-hand side.

"Out of his depth" and "shocking" were two words used to describe Vinagre's capability as a wing-back.

It has led to some members of the Wolf Pack opening stating that they miss the usual first-choice, Jonny, who picked up an injury against Norwich City just ten days ago.

One supporter even went as far as claiming he would rather have the Spaniard with one leg over Vinagre.

For true Wolves fans only: How much did each of these players cost?

And in other news, Wolves can count their lucky stars for not signing this Jorge Mendes client...
