According to French news outlet Jeunes Footeux, Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of several clubs taking a keen interest in Bordeaux midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni after sending scouts to watch him multiple times this season.

What's the word?

The west Midlands club face stiff competition from a couple of perennial European competitors in Sevilla and Inter Milan, although, Nuno Santo's men should now be considered in similar ilk after their recent exploits.

Tchouameni, who is valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt, has drawn comparisons to Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba despite only registering one goal and one assist in 31 senior appearances at the Ligue 1 outfit.

He told RMC Sport last month that is was 'nice' to be compared to such a talented player.

The 19-year-old midfielder is under contract in Bordeaux until 2022.

Perfect fit

Tchouameni's statistics do not make for fantastic reading but this season he has been deployed in a defensive midfield role in 11 of their 12 matches this campaign.

Although, his influence can be seen in the fact that they are yet to win when he hasn't featured (two draws, two defeats) whereas with him in the team they have won six, drawn three and lost two with Bordeaux sitting fifth in Ligue 1.

According to reports in France, he has also thrived in a 3-4-3 system which would make him a rather perfect fit for the system Nuno has been utilising to great success at Molineux this campaign. His power and ability to hold the ball are particularly noted, and with the need for Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho to be further up the field, his presence could be vital.

Gus Poyet, his former manager and ex-Brighton boss, believes he has an 'extraordinary future.'

A signing like this would also match the goals of the Wolves ownership, Fosun, who want to start producing young talent amongst the team.

At just 19 years of age, with glowing reviews about his promising potential, it seems like a perfect fit all-round for the west Midlands club.
