According to Doncaster Free Press, Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Cameron John is attracting the interest of Premier League duo Leicester City and Crystal Palace, as well as Championship outfit Middlesbrough, after impressing on loan at Darren Moore's Doncaster Rovers.

What's the word?

The 20-year-old is currently on a season-long loan deal in south Yorkshire and this weekend his late equaliser salvaged the League One side a point against MK Dons.

John has been limited to just nine appearances in all competitions this term having missed several months through injury.

While the centre-back is yet to feature in a senior fixture for his parent club despite playing nearly 70 times for the U18s and U23s.

His contract is due to expire in the summer, but the same report suggests that Wolves have the option of taking up another year on his current deal.

Nuno and Fosun satisfied

The west Midlanders need to do exactly that - or even better, offer him a long-term extension.

John is currently enjoying his first taste of the men's game and it is clear to see that he's making a mark at Rovers as he's pretty much come straight back into the starting line up following a couple of months on the sideline.

Keeping hold of the emerging talent will firstly satisfy Fosun's ambition to start transitioning the academy system into a hotbed of players fit for the first-term, but it would also lessen the burden on manager Nuno Santo going into next season.

Wolves have suffered from defensive problems this season, so much so that two central midfielders have been playing there - both Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett have been injured for the past few months.

His humble attitude, as seen in him remaining coy on these very links, is also an attribute that is sure to please the Portuguese boss.

“I don’t take any notice. Personally, that’s nothing for me to get involved with. I’m just here to play football at the end of the day so I can’t be worrying about outside noise. I’ve heard about it, people have told me, and it’s nice to hear. But in the present, I’m here to play games, to play football and hopefully I just keep performing well."
The Molineux-based side need to tie up the promising centre-back before it's too late. It will only benefit the direction the whole club are gunning towards.
