According to the Express & Star, Wolves are in ongoing talks with Olympiacos to sign winger Daniel Podence before the transfer window slams shut in just over a week.

What's the word?

It's believed that Wolves are confident of getting a deal across the line before deadline day, although it remains to be seen if the move is permanent or temporary - or even a loan with an obligation to buy.

As per the source, the Greek giants are said to value the 24-year-old at around £21m while he is a client of Gestifute, run by the familiar super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Podence found the net against Wolves' Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League earlier this season while in a total of 27 appearances this season he has scored and assisted five goals apiece in all competitions, via Transfermarkt.

Traore feels

The Portuguese native will add a versatile dimension to Wolves as he's able to play anywhere along the front three, and he'll have no problem settling in given the large contingent of compatriots at the club.

He will arrive with doubts of his own, but it is nothing that manager Nuno Santo can't resolve.

It seems likely that he will provide backup to Adama Traore on the right flank, as Pedro Neto deputises for Diogo Jota on the other side, and the pair may have a few similarities - or at least had.

The Spaniard was often lamented for his lack of end product, as by comments from Danny Higginbotham here, but this campaign he's been totally transformed having directly contributed to 14 goals in all competitions, ten more than last term.

Doubts over Podence's ability in front of goal were first noted in a scout report from Outside of the Boot whilst he was still at Sporting Lisbon, where he failed to score in 40 first-team appearances.

His return has somewhat improved in Greece with 13 goals in 68 games, but the Superleague is in no way comparable to any of Europe's elite divisions and certainly not the Premier League, so such question marks can rightfully carry over.

In addition, his strengths are also similar to Traore, as he also offers explosive pace that can make life very difficult for defences, as per AgonaSport's scout report.

Traore's transformation is most noted here after breaking the league's dribbling records this season, so Nuno will be hoping that Podence can be his new project - one that can follow in the direct footsteps of the tricky right-winger.

Meanwhile, the January addition of this former Championship striker smacks of desperation from Wolves...
