Wolves boss sees positive signs

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy is confident that his side are starting to get to grips with life in the Premier League, following a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

McCarthy’s men have won just twice since their return to the top-flight, but built on a draw at Everton last time out with another positive display against their local rivals.

He told the club’s official website:“I was just speaking to the players saying that we’ve played ten games and are getting better.

“There’s a bit more solidity about us and we’ve looked like we can open teams up as well.

“There’s only maybe four of them in there that have played in the Premier League before this season. They’ve had to learn on their feet and I think they’re learning quickly.

“What’s also nice is that I can also look around on the bench and see things I can do, whether it’s to secure things up or make something better if someone’s knackered.

“I’m not looking around thinking I’ve got my best eleven on the pitch and can’t do anything to change it.

“We’ve now been unbeaten against two top six sides – it would have been great to have won one of them, but we’ve played well.”
