West Ham had a terrific first season under Slaven Billic, finishing 7th, but they were unable to follow that up with any progress as they ended a disappointing 16/17 Premier League campaign in 11th.

This has been seen as spectacular disappointment after the promise they showed before moving to their new London Stadium stadium. The Dimitri Payet saga overshadowed much of it but with the new campaign ahead, West Ham fans will be optimistic the club can bring in fresh talent to help them regain an upward trajectory.

West Ham have been linked to a few players but are yet to back up any of the rumours with concrete interest, currently making just one signing ahead of the new season.

The West Ham board will be set on improving the team by investing wisely in preparation for what will be a hugely important campaign for the club and Slaven Bilic's future.

It's fair to say West Ham will need to spend big money in order to improve this summer, but will they need to break their club record transfer in order to bring their targets in?
