Glasgow Rangers continued to pile the pressure on their rivals at the top of the Premiership table with a 2-1 win over Ross County at Ibrox on Saturday.

Malik Tillman and Borna Barisic both found the back of the net to pick up all three points for Michael Beale's side, which maintains the manager's unbeaten record since arriving in Glasgow.

One of the stars of the performance was January addition Todd Cantwell as the English attacking midfielder caught the eye with a superb display in the middle of the park.

The signing from Championship side Norwich was everywhere across the park as he dictated the tempo of the game and sparked the Gers attack throughout his time on the pitch.

In 83 minutes of action, Cantwell completed 65 of his 69 (94%) attempted passes, won six of his eight duels, hit the woodwork, and created two chances - one of which created the opening goal for Tillman - as per Sofascore.

The 24-year-old was the heartbeat of the team and supporters may have enjoyed his electric performance in midfield but another player who put in an impressive performance was central defender Connor Goldson.

Supporters may look at Jordan White's equalising goal and point the finger at the centre-back for not beating the attacker to the header but the Englishman appeared to back out as Jon McLaughlin came rushing out of his goal in an attempt to push the cross away.

The Gers shot-stopper seemingly gave the defender a shout as he came off his line but the veteran goalkeeper completely missed the ball and allowed White to head into an empty net, which left Goldson looking culpable in the middle of it all.

Outside of that incident, which was caused by McLaughlin and not the centre-back, the former Brighton enforcer put in an excellent display at the heart of the defence.

He was Beale's unsung hero as the 6 foot 3 man mountain was largely dominant throughout the match and defended well to ensure that the team came away with all three points in the end.

Goldson won 75% (3/4) of his individual duels, an indicator that the centre-back was able to bully the Ross County attackers and did not allow himself to be caught out with regularity.

He also stopped McLaughlin from needing to make too many saves by making six clearances and blocking two shots, whilst Ben Davies only won two of his five battles and completed one clearance whilst failing to make a single block.

The experienced Gers enforcer also completed a higher percentage (92%) of his passes than the former Liverpool man (89%) and this suggests that the 30-year-old was the standout defender for Beale at the back, due to both his defensive strength and his passing ability.

Therefore, Goldson was the unsung hero for Rangers amid a number of impressive attacking displays, from Cantwell and Tillman, and certainly deserves praise for his performance in spite of the mix-up for White's goal.
