Steven Gerrard has confirmed a double injury boost for Glasgow Rangers - but there is an added catch.

What's the word?

Gerrard has provided an injury update on James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe after he revealed their estimated return dates following their respective injury lay-offs.

The former was forced off in Rangers' 4-3 win over Royal Antwerp in the Europa League after he suffered a knee injury, while the latter was also taken off shortly before half-time of the same game after picking up a calf problem against the Belgian side.

But both Tavernier and Roofe are expected to be back in the next couple of weeks as they work their way back to fitness, which means they could even be fit to face-off against Celtic in just over a fortnight's time.

However, the Ibrox boss also revealed that Ryan Jack's fitness is now a concern after picking up an issue in the win over Dundee United earlier this week.

Gerrard faces an anxious wait

Now, just before we get started, let us proceed with a note of caution. Injuries are often unpredictable, with it being hard to put a specific timeframe on rehabilitation.

Should things go to plan, however, judging by Gerrard's words, it seems Tavernier and Roofe could both be back in time to take on Celtic in a game where, if previous results go the right way, Rangers could be crowned champions.

While the right-back has led by example in a season that has seen Gerrard's side do their best to break Celtic's stranglehold on the Scottish Premiership, Roofe has also settled into life rather nicely at Ibrox Stadium this season thus far.

Together, the two have contributed to 33 goals between them this season with the captain topping the goal-scoring charts with 11 goals in 29 top-flight appearances and Roofe following closely behind him on ten himself. No other player has contributed more out of the entire Rangers squad.

If they are given the all-clear, there's no doubting the fact this would hand Gerrard a huge fitness boost if it does indeed prove to be the case.

AND in other news, Rangers centre-back Filip Helander was dreadful against Dundee United...
