Rangers looked like they would fight Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title until the last day at one point in the season, but since January they have tailed away quite dramatically.

They also lost to Hearts in the Scottish Cup in that period so it has been quite disastrous, though it is possible things would have turned out a lot differently if the transfer window had played out in the way they hoped for.

The Glasgow outfit were linked to Burnley's Matej Vydra at the beginning of the year. The striker had struggled for game time and by January 31st had played just 100 minutes of Premier League football.

Burnley signed him for £11m in 2018 but he had failed to make his mark, and it wasn't until the January window passed that he showed what Rangers missed out on.

The 27-year-old has two goals in three starts since the window closed, with the image above depicting the Czech Republic international opening the scoring in a 3-0 home win against Bournemouth.

A brilliant strike against Southampton the week before showed just how lethal he is, and Steven Gerrard will surely be ruing the fact that he wasn't brought in.

Instead, the Gers added Florian Kamberi to do the squad. He has scored just one goal and failed to force his way into the starting line-up despite the lack of form of Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian is without a goal in eight league games, and that diaster only underlines the fact that Rangers missed out on an astute forward in Vydra.
