Glasgow Rangers have enjoyed their fair share of prolific goalscorers over the years as the number nine position has been filled by a host of talented strikers.

One man who looks set to add his name to that list is Croatian centre-forward Antonio Colak, who arrived at Ibrox from Greek side PAOK in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old has racked up 14 goals and two assists in 23 matches for Rangers, including 11 goals in 13 Premiership outings, as he has established himself as the first-choice option for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Another player who has already written his name into Gers history as a phenomenal goalscorer is the man Colak has replaced up front - Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian hit the 100-club last season and is currently on 115 goals in 241 appearances in all competitions.

Morelos joined an illustrious list of strikers to have scored a century or more goals for the club and one of the other names on that list is current Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd.

Former Gers manager Alex McLeish signed him from Kilmarnock in January of 2006 for a fee of roughly £500k, amid competition from English side Sheffield Wednesday.

He had scored 15 goals in 19 matches in the first half of the 2005/06 Premiership campaign, after plundering 32 goals in the previous two seasons combined, and that was enough to convince the Light Blues boss to snap him up.

They certainly hit the jackpot by signing him as the striker went on to become an icon for the Gers by regularly finding the back of the net over the course of a number of years.

In the second half of 2005/06, the 18-cap Scottish forward struck 17 times in 17 appearances in the top flight, finishing the season with 32 goals in 36 league outings for Kilmarnock and Rangers combined.

He went on to score 19, 14, 27, and 23 goals in the following four Premiership campaigns respectively, as he consistently found the net week-in-week-out in the division for the Light Blues.

Boyd eventually left to join Middlesbrough in England in the summer of 2010 and departed Rangers after scoring a whopping 109 goals in 168 matches in all competitions during a four-and-a-half-year stay in Glasgow.

This shows that McLeish played a blinder by signing him from Kilmarnock in 2006 as he became a lethal goalscorer for the club, something has deservedly seen him branded an "icon" by the Daily Record on multiple occasions.

The forward, who enjoyed a second spell at Ibrox in the 2014/15 campaign, may now be watching on as Colak fires in goals on a regular basis this season and wondering whether or not the Croatian is another who will be joining him in the 100-club in the coming years.
