Glasgow Rangers suffered a woeful defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic at Parkhead this afternoon, losing 4-0 in what was a very one-sided match.

The Ibrox side came into the tie trailing the Premiership leaders by two points and were looking to overhaul that deficit come to the end of the fixture.

It turned out to be a terrible afternoon for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his side, however, with plenty of mistakes made by the backline, including a howler by goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin to allow David Turnbull to score Celtic’s fourth goal of the afternoon.

It was another dreadful Parkhead performance for the Dutchman following the 3-0 defeat in his first Old Firm clash as manager, and lessons need to be learned from the way another capitulation has occurred.

There were very few positives for the Light Blues, but Borna Barisic’s performance was pleasing and proves he still has the ability for these big games.

Barisic was the only spark for Rangers

Barisic was poor in the last defeat to Celtic at Parkhead in February and there were worries that he would get overrun by the sheer pace of Liel Abada. And, despite the Israeli international scoring twice, the Croatian's attacking intent was the club’s only danger for much of the match.

He received a rating of 6.8 on SofaScore, ranking him joint third in the Rangers squad behind John Lundstram and Steven Davis, with James Sands also having the same rating.

The 29-year-old has also been a proven attacking threat in the Rangers side, getting forward as much as he can to offer support to Ryan Kent on the left wing, and he delivered 11 crosses into the opposition box this afternoon.

He won 50% of his total duels, made four clearances, and took a massive 92 touches during the match, showing his willingness to always get on the ball, even with the side trailing and the match beyond them.

By playing two key passes, with 52 overall and creating one big chance, the Ibrox side should really have scored at least one goal, but on a day when the left back is the team's biggest threat, it was always going to be tough.

Despite the horror showing from the majority of his teammates, Barisic can at least say he gave everything to aid his side's cause.
