Journalist Pete O'Rourke has offered his thoughts on Glasgow Rangers and their interest in a Brazilian midfielder...

What's the talk?

The reporter has lauded FC Midtjylland star Evander and claimed that he could offer a lot to Gio van Bronckhorst this season.

The Light Blues are reportedly among a number of clubs keen on bringing in the gem, who will cost at least €10m (£8.5m), this summer.

Speaking to Football FanCast, O'Rourke said: "He's a good player, Evander, very versatile (and) can play in a number of roles in midfield, can play defensively or as an attacking midfielder as well so he will bring a lot of options to van Bronckhorst's squad if he was to make the move to Ibrox.

"24-year-old Brazilian, so he's got a little bit of Brazilian class as well in the final third, if he does play as an attacking midfielder, and he's done well for Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga, as well as in Europe as well.

"So if Rangers were to get him he could be an astute signing for them and I think his versatility would be a key addition to the squad."

He'd be a brilliant signing

Ross Wilson must work hard to bring the midfielder to Glasgow before next Thursday's transfer deadline after securing Champions League football. The Gers beat PSV 3-2 on aggregate to reach the group stage and are set for a cash influx as a reward, which could allow the Ibrox club to dip back into the market.

As O'Rourke has claimed, Evander would be an astute and brilliant signing for the Light Blues, as he is a talented young player with the potential to make a huge impact in Scotland.

The 24-year-old, who was once dubbed "very intelligent" by journalist Josh Bunting, has shown that he can score and create goals on a regular basis from midfield.

In the Superliga last season, he scored 12 goals and assisted six - creating an eye-catching 12 'big chances' - in 29 appearances. He also made 2.6 tackles and interceptions per game to go along with his attacking contributions and this shows that he does not shy away from his defensive responsibilities.

Meanwhile, no Rangers player scored more than Alfredo Morelos' 11 goals and no Light Blues midfielder managed more than John Lundstram's 2.4 tackles per match in the Premiership last term.

These statistics suggest that Evander, who has created 15 chances in three games this season, could be a terrific box-to-box player for van Bronckhorst who improves the work that they do defensively and offensively.
