Glasgow Rangers endured a night to forget in their Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The visitors came away from Ibrox with three points following a 7-1 victory and leaving the Light Blues bottom of Group A.

There was more bad news, with Connor Goldson hobbling off with an injury and he could be out for the next few games.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst hasn’t endured the finest of weeks and there has also been an injury update on a long-term casualty…

Hagi could be set for a prolonged recovery time

Hagi has been out injured since January this year having been substituted during a Scottish Cup tie against Stirling Albion at Ibrox.

He missed the Scottish Cup final win and the run to the Europa League final and has only played ten times under Van Bronckhorst.

The Romanian national team manager Edi Iordănescu has confirmed that the attacking midfielder's timeline may be longer than anticipated, saying:

"Three days ago I had a discussion with Ianis Hagi, his recovery process was prolonged a bit.

"He couldn't tell me anything concrete either.

"He is under the observation of the medical staff at the club.

"If he will return this year on the ground, then for us it can quickly become an option."

This is not news that the Dutchman will have wanted to hear, especially with the current injury crisis that is plaguing his team.

The likes of Filip Helander, Kemar Roofe, John Souttar, and now Connor Goldson are all on the physio table, with uncertainties about returning to action anytime soon.

The next few weeks will test the Dutchman’s threadbare squad to its core and with two more Champions League matches to come, plus Premiership and League Cup action, he will be praying they can come through the other side unscathed.

It's not the best of news to receive ahead of Sunday's clash with Motherwell, either.
