Light Blues manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that striker Kemar Roofe will play a part in the match, making his first appearance of the season.
Academy graduate Alex Lowry, who suffered an injury for the B Team earlier this season, is also closing in on his comeback to the senior squad.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, the head coach said: "Lowry is playing today with the B-Team to give him minutes, he is close to a return to play with the first team. Roofe is in the squad for tomorrow, he is ready for minutes which we will try to give him."
Big boost for Rangers
Roofe's return could be a big boost for van Bronckhorst for this match and the upcoming games in the Champions League and the Premiership.
The former Leeds United marksman has been out of action for 19 matches this term, after missing 13 games in the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign.
He may not be fit enough to start tonight, given his complete lack of involvement in a competitive game since 2021/22, but he could make an impact off the bench before being an option to start in the weeks to come.
Last season, he scored three goals in two League Cup matches and has found the back of the net six times in ten domestic cup appearances since joining Rangers in 2020.
The forward is a proven goalscorer and is someone van Bronckhorst can rely on to provide a goal threat in games. He has scored 34 times in 72 outings for the club in the last two campaigns, although there are question marks over his effectiveness in build-up play as he has only registered five assists in that time.
Roofe plundered 12 strikes from 13 starts in the Premiership and Europa League combined last season and this shows that he has the quality to be a regular goalscorer for the team.
Therefore, having him back for this game, and indeed upcoming matches, could be a big boost for the manager. The Jamaica international has the quality to add firepower off the bench or from the start for the Light Blues.
The Gers head coach will also be delighted to have Lowry back in the near future as the talented youngster has shown plenty of promise in his short career so far. He has scored two goals and provided two assists in seven first-team outings for the club, which suggests that he could be a useful option to call upon when he is back in contention.
