Glasgow Rangers continued their unbeaten run under Michael Beale with a comfortable 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox this afternoon.

New signing Todd Cantwell made his debut and the opening 15 minutes saw the Light Blues dominate proceedings, having 84% of possession, while James Tavernier scored yet another penalty to put the Gers in front and it would be a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

St Johnstone midfielder Nicky Clark received a straight red card for a challenge on Ryan Jack ten minutes before half-time and this led to another comfortable afternoon for the club as Glen Kamara scored their second with just over half an hour to go, effectively securing all three points.

Tavernier was dependable as always, playing four key passes while scoring the opener and Cantwell settled in nicely, taking 53 touches and he will only get better as time goes on, however, it was Alfredo Morelos who was the real hero this afternoon.

The Colombian had scored four times in his first seven matches under Beale and it’s clear he has found his mojo once again following a poor spell at the beginning of the campaign.

With Antonio Colak struggling with injury as of late, the onus is on Morelos to lead the line effectively and he did that today, securing a solid 6.9/10 rating via Sofascore.

The striker was only on the pitch for 72 minutes, yet he managed to take a total of six shots, albeit not scoring, but it proved his predatory instincts are still there in abundance.

He also grabbed an assist for Kamara’s goal that wrapped up the three points and Heart and Hand tweeted that Morelos had a “lovely touch” in the lead-up to the goal, suggesting he can still offer the odd moment of genius during matches.

The 26-year-old perhaps should have scored himself having missed two big chances, while overall, he enjoyed 43 touches of the ball, played one key pass and created a big chance in what was a solid display in front of the Ibrox crowd.

Beale is slowly but surely rebuilding the club's confidence and with the gap at the top now down to six points, the onus is on for Celtic to win tomorrow, otherwise, the pressure could start to ramp up.
