Glasgow Rangers face a crucial January transfer window if they hope to freshen up a squad that has been ravaged by an injury crisis and poor form.

The Ibrox side currently find themselves nine points adrift of Celtic in the race for the Premiership title while crashing out of the Champions League at the group stage and this ultimately led to the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Ross Wilson is eyeing up a new manager, with former Rangers first-team coach Mick Beale the frontrunner for the position.

The 42-year-old should be backed in the transfer window and one of his first moves should be to sign Huddersfield Town left-back Ben Jackson.

Van Bronckhorst sold Calvin Bassey in the summer for £23m and Jackson might just be the next big thing that Beale can develop and move on for a massive profit in the next few years.

Rangers have been keeping tabs on the defender for a couple of weeks now and a price tag of £1.5m is what it will take for anyone aiming to sign him in January.

Jackson has impressed this season, playing ten Championship matches and averaging a rating of 6.80, via SofaScore.

He has scored once while making 0.9 key passes per match and creating a further two big chances, proving that he is an attacking-minded left-back, although he can play further up the field if required, and this versatility will be an added bonus for Beale.

The 21-year-old hasn’t shirked his defensive responsibilities either, making 1.7 tackles, 1.6 clearances, and 0.6 interceptions per match and winning 53% of his total duels.

Jackson has emerged as a key figure within the Huddersfield side and manager Mark Fotheringham won't be keen on selling him just yet, however, if Beale makes a bid of £1.5m, then it might get the ball rolling.

Bassey arrived from English football and developed into one of the finest players in the team, there is absolutely no reason why the Englishman can't do the same if he made the move to Ibrox.
