Glasgow Rangers are set to receive a major injury lift over Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos...

What's the talk?

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that the Colombia international is not far away from returning to action for the Light Blues.

He has been out of the picture since March and the Dutch head coach has confirmed that he will part of their Champions League qualifying campaign, which begins on Tuesday night.

The club quoted him as saying: "Hopefully Morelos will be involved really soon. He is named in our European squad."

Van Bronckhorst will be buzzing

Morelos coming back to full fitness will surely leave the Ibrox boss buzzing as it will provide his squad with a huge boost.

He will be particularly pleased to see the forward back in action after watching Antonio Colak's debut against Livingston on Saturday. The Croatia international struggled badly on his competitive debut up front as he looked isolated throughout the game.

As per SofaScore, he only had nine touches of the ball and completed three passes, whilst also missing one 'big chance', in 90 minutes on the pitch. He did, however, manage to find the back of the net with a header before seeing the linesman with his flag raised on the far side.

No one should be making any final judgements on the 28-year-old because of that performance but the return of Morelos will afford him more time to settle into life in Glasgow. Instead of being required to start every game, he can rotate with his teammate and some of the pressure will be lifted off his shoulders.

Rangers know exactly what they are going to get with their Colombian striker; hard work, goals, and assists. The 26-year-old is a proven nuisance for opposition defences and provided the goods in front of goal yet again last season.

In the 2021/22 Premiership campaign, Morelos chipped in with 11 goals and seven assists in 26 appearances for the Light Blues. This led to him averaging a sublime SofaScore rating of 7.32, which shows that he consistently delivered quality displays in the Scottish top-flight.

Therefore, van Bronckhorst will be buzzing to have him back as his presence will be a huge boost to the attacking unit at the club. He has the ability to make a major impact in the final third and fans will now be looking forward to seeing him in action again.
