Rangers are set to have a busy summer transfer window. Of course, with a couple of deals done and dusted, Steven Gerrard is already making strides on the market.

However, there's more where that came from and then some. The biggest story by far seems to be the future of Ryan Kent, one of Gers' biggest stars and undoubtedly a big piece of Gerrard's plans to usurp Celtic's throne in the Scottish Premier League.

So much so that Sky Sports' Kris Boyd believes Rangers cannot afford to lose him. Here's what he said about Kent and Alfredo Morelos when speaking on Sky Sports Scottish Football Podcast:

"Morelos needs to go because if Rangers need to sell somebody, as we are all led to believe, they cannot lose Ryan Kent. If they have an aspiration about winning a league title, they cannot lose him.

"For me, they need to keep a hold of him no matter what and if that means you have to take a lower price for Morelos to get him out the door, that is what you need to do."

Boyd is making himself quite clear: get rid of Morelos and ensure Kent stays. It's as simple as that. Of course, both players have been linked with an exit from Scotland and the latter could indeed be on his way to Leeds United in the Premier League.

Nothing is set in stone just yet, however, so Gerrard has time to convince the latter to stay and make sure the former packs his bags.

Or at least that's what Boyd would do in his place.

Only time will tell though.

Verdict

Even though Boyd might be a bit harsh here, he does have a point. If Rangers really want to fight Celtic for the title, they will need all the firepower they can get.

And Kent is certainly a key piece of the puzzle in that regard. Gerrard can not afford to lose him now at the turn of the tide. Let's see if he can actually keep his man and challenge for the crown.
