Glasgow Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is feeling the pressure after a poor run of results has left the side nine points adrift in second place in the Premiership table.

The domestic game now takes a break due to the World Cup and this arguably couldn’t have come at a better time for the Ibrox side.

This period may be a saving grace for the Dutchman, however other managers have been linked with the club, including Vitor Pereira, who has recently left Brazilian side Corinthians.

The Portuguese manager was in the running for the Everton job before it went to Frank Lampard and despite poor spells at Fenerbahce and Corinthians, he has won four league titles during his managerial career so far and could be a good fit for the Light Blues.

With several players underperforming this season, perhaps a change of manager could spark them into life - Alfredo Morelos being the main protagonist.

Pereira could unlock Morelos

Van Bronckhorst’s style of football is hard to fathom, and not pretty on the eye. The club have laboured to victories this season, scoring over two goals in just seven of their matches so far.

This has led Morelos to struggle in front of goal, granted he has been coming back from an injury sustained last season, however with just three goals all season, it has clearly been a major battle for the 26-year-old.

Pundit Alan Hutton even claimed he was “sulking” during the club’s 1-1 draw against St Mirren recently.

The 11-cap striker needs a manager who is willing to play attacking football, and Pereira would be perfect.

Indeed, in 508 games managed, the 54-year-old has seen his teams score a whopping 922 goals, averaging nearly two a game in this spell.

Speaking on talkSPORT, via the Mirror, Mesut Ozil lavished praise on his former manager, saying:

"In training it is clear how he wants to play. For example, he wants the team to attack. We want that, because we are Fenerbahce. We want to win against every team. The teacher also advocates this.

“He did a fantastic job in Portugal and he has done a fantastic job in China.

“He is one of the new generation of mangers; very methodical. The players like him, he puts on good training sessions and has a good understanding of the game."

With the Colombian striker's contract expiring at the end of the season, it’s clear someone new is required in order to get him back to performing at his very best.

Pereira, with his penchant for attacking football, might just be the perfect candidate at Ibrox.
