Glasgow Rangers bounced back from their humiliation in Europe last week as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men won 2-1 in the Premiership at the weekend.

The Ibrox side were smashed 7-1 in Europe by Liverpool and goals from Malik Tillman and John Lundstram were enough to pick up three points in the Scottish top-flight vs Motherwell.

Despite the win, the manager may not have been pleased with the performances of some of the players on the pitch - including his two wingers; Rabbi Matondo and Ryan Kent.

The pair struggled out wide as they created one chance between them and lost 21 of their 30 duels combined, which shows that they were poor in and out of possession.

Since joining the club in the summer, Matondo has zero goals and three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions as he has been unable to regularly deliver quality in the final third for the Gers.

The forward's lack of end product so far this season may leave Ross Wilson wondering whether he made the right decision by snapping him up from Schalke, particularly when there could have been a chance of signing experienced winger Martin Boyle.

Former Gers defender Craig Moore claimed that the club would be keeping tabs on the forward's situation in the summer, saying: "Celtic, no, Rangers, definitely could be a possibility. I think Rangers are in a situation where they might be looking at a right winger in terms of strengthening the squad.

"Hagi is still injured, I know Wright and Sakala have played there but there are not natural winger types. Someone like Martin Boyle, who has proven himself, that for me would be very interesting and I'm sure Rangers will be monitoring the situation."

Rangers opted against a swoop for the attacker and he ended up re-joining Hibernian, eight months after leaving them to sign for Al-Faisaly for £3m back in January.

Since making the move back to Scotland, Boyle has scored four goals and provided one assist, whilst creating 2.5 chances per game, in eight Premiership starts.

In the first half of last season, he produced seven goals and three assists, whilst delivering 1.6 key passes per outing in 20 starts for Hibs. That proves that he has the quality to make a big impact in the Scottish top flight.

He is a proven goalscorer and creator at this level and the numbers suggest that he would have been a better option than Matondo, who has struggled to find his best form in front of goal thus far.

Therefore, Wilson missed a trick by not signing the attacker - who has scored 113 club career goals - in the summer and may regret his decision as the Australia international continues to impress in the Premiership.
