Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been handed a big injury lift ahead of their Champions League clash at Ibrox on Tuesday night...

What's the latest?

The Gers manager has confirmed that both James Sands and Ryan Kent are set to return to action for the Champions League qualifier.

Both players missed out on the 4-0 win over St. Johnstone on Saturday and are now in line to make the squad against PSV.

When asked about the pair's availability for the clash, he told BBC Scotland, via Football Scotland: "I expect them to be okay or Tuesday."

Big boost for van Bronckhorst

This should be a big boost for the Dutch head coach as both players started in the impressive 3-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise last week to secure a place in the next qualifying round.

The Gers lost 2-0 to the Belgian outfit without Kent in the first leg and then turned it around at Ibrox thanks to goals from James Tavernier, Malik Tillman, and Antonio Colak - with Sands helping to keep a clean sheet at centre-back.

Van Bronckhorst could now benefit from having the pair back for the upcoming clash with PSV, particularly the English winger.

The ex-Liverpool attacker has proven that he can be a difference-maker in Europe for the Gers. In the Europa League last term, he racked up one goal and five assists in 13 outings as the Light Blues made it all the way to the final of the competition.

He also set up two goals in two Champions League qualifying outings earlier that season, which proves that he has what it takes to perform at this level. The gem has consistently created goals for his teammates in Europe and that is why his availability could be key against PSV.

Kent has already started this campaign impressively as he caught the eye against Livingston on the opening day of the Premiership season. He picked up one assist and created four chances in the match as he showcased his immense creativity out on the left flank.

This comes after he managed 1.7 key passes per game and ten 'big chances' created in total in the Scottish top-flight in 2021/22 - recording 11 assists in total.

Scott Wright, meanwhile, has zero goals and zero assists in three Premiership outings this term, after providing one assist in 19 games last season.

This suggests that he is unable to provide the creativity that Kent can offer the team out wide, which is why having the 25-year-old available against PSV could be a huge boost for van Bronckhorst as he could unlock the Dutch defence.
