Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has enjoyed a perfect start to life in Glasgow, with three wins out of three since his arrival.

The Dutchman has overseen wins over Sparta Prague, Livingston and Hibernian, with his side scoring six goals and conceding just once in that time.

Kickstart

It has been a sublime start on the pitch and he is now less than a month away from his first transfer window in charge of the club. Rangers have a chance to truly kickstart the Van Bronckhorst era at Ibrox by sealing a statement signing in January, with Paris Saint-Germain beast Xavi Simons having been linked by Spanish outlet AS with a move to Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard made an instant impression upon his arrival in Glasgow as he landed Ryan Kent on loan from his former club Liverpool.

The winger initially joined on a temporary deal before signing permanently in the summer of 2019 and he has been a sublime signing. Kent has now scored 28 goals and provided 34 assists in 143 competitive games for Rangers, with 24 goals and 20 assists in 93 Premiership matches.

With Simons, Van Bronckhorst has the opportunity to land a similar deal and kickstart his reign at the club by bolstering the squad in January. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano described him as "more than a talent" and his career path to date aligns with that comment. At the age of 18, he has already played for Barcelona, PSG and, at youth level, the Netherlands.

The midfielder has played twice for PSG's first-team, making his Ligue 1 debut for the French giants last season under Mauricio Pochettino. He has continued to impress in the youth side this term, with two goals and five assists in five UEFA Youth League matches.

Simons has shown immense versatility to go along with his quality at such a young age. He has played everywhere across the front line - on the left, the right and through the middle - whilst also playing as a number 10 and a number eight at times.

This means that Rangers could sign a player with versatility, ability and potential, with two of Europe's top clubs deeming him good enough to play in their academy. Therefore, the Gers could send out a statement with a deal for Simons, as it would show that they are able to go out and snap up talent ahead of other interested clubs, and his prospective arrival could kickstart the Van Bronckhorst era and be the Dutchman's version of Kent for Gerrard.
