Steven Gerrard could be set for a huge Rangers blow this summer after it was revealed that Arsenal are keen on signing Glen Kamara after his impressive season at Ibrox.

According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League clubs taking an interest in the midfielder as a result of his superb performances in Gerrard's side this season.

The Finnish international has been extremely impressive since joining from Dundee in January 2019, making 99 appearances, in which he has contributed four goals and five assists.

Kamara has been on the books at Arsenal before, having signed for the North London club from Southend United back in 2012, spending five years at the club before making the move to Dens Park.

He would manage just one senior appearance for the Gunners during his time at the Emirates and was clearly deemed to be some way off first-team level as he was released by the club in 2017.

However, the 25-year-old has been a key part of Rangers' success in the SPL and the Europa League this season and it is suggested that Arsenal are now keen to bring him back.

The defensive midfielder has been very solid for Gerrard's side this season, averaging a 6.90/10 rating for his performances in both the Premiership and the Europa League, so is clearly an important member of the Gers' squad.

Gerrard was full of praise for the Finnish international shortly after he signed, saying:

"I obviously knew the player and what you saw against Kilmarnock is why we wanted to bring him in this summer. Thankfully we've been able to bring him in early.

"He was a class act the other night, I thought he was superb from start to finish."

Therefore, it seems clear that Gerrard sees the £4.05m-rated Kamara as a hugely important member of his squad, so to lose him ahead of next season when Rangers will be looking to defend their title and give a good account of themselves in the Champions League, would be a huge blow.

Unfortunately for the champions, the prospect of playing in the Premier League, along with the eye-watering wages that Arsenal can offer, may well prove to be too good to turn down for Kamara this summer.
