The January transfer window is now less than a month away from opening and Glasgow Rangers boss Michael Beale may want to dip into the market to improve his side.

Ross Wilson has appointed the 42-year-old Englishman to takeover from Giovanni van Bronckhorst and next month will be his first opportunity to stamp his own mark on the squad.

Journalist Dean Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT:

“Part of it is that Rangers have spelt out a promising future plan for him. He knows he’s going to be able to shape the first team and he will be able to have a big say on how the club is run too.

“I think they really see him as a big figurehead here and that is something that’s really exciting. The promise of funds in January comes as part of the package.”

This suggests that the head coach will have money to spend and one player he could splash the cash on is Ghana international Antoine Semenyo.

Football Scotland reported that the Gers have been sending scouts to watch the Bristol City striker in action and Bristol World claimed, in the summer, that he would cost any interested clubs a fee in the region of £15m.

Robins boss Nigel Pearson previously described him as a "real threat" and the player himself likened his style of play to that of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, telling Sky Sports:

"In terms of my link-up play I loved watching [Didier] Drogba. For running in behind Thierry Henry. They are the perfect examples of both. Drogba's link-up play was unreal, and with Henry's pace and power, he literally had everything. I try to model the two sides of my game around them.

"In terms of who I'm a bit closer to in terms of my game I'd say Drogba. He could play into feet and run in behind and dribble too. It's probably a little bit more like me."

The Ivorian legend scored 164 goals and assisted 86 in 381 matches for Chelsea and won four Premier League titles, along with one Champions League, during his career.

Semenyo caught the eye in the Championship last season with three goals and two assists in seven league starts this term.

The 22-year-old is still in the infancy of his career and has plenty of time left to continue his growth, which means that he would not arrive at Ibrox as the finished article.

Instead, he would be a signing for the future, as well as the here and now, and could develop into Beale's own version of Drogba by consistently delivering goals and assists from a number nine position.

He has shown signs of promise on both fronts with the Robins and Rangers could be the place for him to take the next step, if the Light Blues can strike a deal for him in January.
