After getting on the score-sheet once again in Rangers' 2-0 victory over Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night, Alfredo Morelos moved to the top of the league goal-scoring charts this season.

Signed for a reported £1m from Finnish side HJK Helsinki back in 2017, it's fair to say the Colombian has been an unqualified success at Ibrox.

Speaking to Football FanCast, former Rangers star Michael Ball said: "I think there’s been talk about Morelos maybe for two or three years now about leaving Rangers for many reasons. His goal-scoring is second to none but he’s got that South American bite to him.

"He reminds me of the Suarez situation where, one day he’s fantastic and the next he can let you down because the passion gets too much for him. Being part of Rangers, he’s got to know the club so well, he understands it and sometimes passion does get over him."

In the 214 games that he has played for the club in total, the striker has bagged an impressive 110 goals in all competitions, including providing another 48 assists to boot too.

Now valued at £11.7m by Transfermarkt, Morelos' value has shot up an incredible 1070% since his move to Ibrox - a real statement on just how well has performed for the Gers in his time at the club.

As well as the undoubted ability that he has on the ball, one thing that has marked Morelos out as a fan-favourite has been that "passion" that Ball talked about.

That's something former Dundee boss Neil McCann has himself raved about, saying: "I would love to have someone like that in my team. Not just the goals, even though 28 is a quite incredible return given he has missed a number of games. It is his all-round play. He is a proper No.9. He can hold it up, run the channel and is very good in the air despite not being that big. He wouldn’t be much bigger than me but he is powerful. And he loves a fight.

"Centre-backs don’t like a fight. They want to be the ones bullying people. Defenders can almost get caught up with Morelos’ power. So they think about the fight first and all of a sudden he is off down the side of them or dipping off – and bang."

There's no questioning that Rangers struck gold with the signing of the 25-year-old.
