Rangers: Van Bronckhorst heading for summer “disaster”

A worrying Rangers claim has emerged over the Ibrox club’s plans for the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?

Gers reporter Chris Jack has warned that the club will be in a tricky situation in June with the number of players they have out of contract at the end of the season.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Goldson is fine. You can almost accept losing one of that title-winning squad on a free; to go and then lose three or four of them would be a bit a disaster for Rangers, financially and in football terms.”

Will Goldson leave on a free?

Concern for GvB

This will surely be concerning for Gio van Bronckhorst due to the hole which is set to be left in his squad heading into the 2022/23 campaign.

As it stands, Allan McGregor, Leon Balogun, Steven Davis, Connor Goldson and Scott Arfield are all set to leave for nothing, whilst Aaron Ramsey and Amad Diallo will also return to Juventus and Manchester United respectively following their loan spells at Ibrox.

Of the permanent first-team players whose contracts are up this year, all of them have started at least nine Premiership matches and two of them have started 23 or more. This highlights the chasm which will be left in the team if none of them put pen to paper on contract extensions.

This would place an added emphasis on the need for Ross Wilson to work some magic in the transfer window, as he would need to replace multiple players. It would be a difficult task for the sporting director to source four replacements for players who have been integral to the club’s success with their impact on and potentially off the pitch.

How well do you know Morelos? First... who did he score his 100th goal against?

Wilson has already secured a deal to bring John Souttar to the club and this may alleviate some of the concern over Goldson’s exit. At the very least, it means that they have a direct replacement for the 29-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether or not the new arrival will be able to have the same effect on the pitch as the English giant.

The midfield is a huge cause for concern as they are set to lose Ramsey, Arfield and Davis, whilst James Sands remains on loan from New York City FC. Van Bronckhorst will surely be racking his brain over what to do heading into the summer and now has some big calls to make regarding contract offers to the players who are on their way out as it stands.

AND in other news, Van Bronckhorst can brutally axe “shaky” Rangers dud in deal for “annoyingly brilliant” £0 machine…
