Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Light Blues captain will be putting pen to paper on a contract extension in the coming days.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2024 and the club have moved to ensure that they are not in a difficult position with him this time next year.
He tweeted: "Rangers have reached an agreement with James Tavernier to sign a new contract until June 2026, been told it’s now done and sealed. #RangersFC Official announcement expected in the next days, Tavernier stays."

The Ibrox head coach will surely be delighted by this news, as securing the captain's future will be a huge boost for the Rangers squad.
Instead of being tempted to pursue a move elsewhere, like his former team-mates Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, Tavernier has decided to commit himself to Glasgow.
He is a crucial player for Rangers and losing him would dampen their chances of achieving success.
Since joining the club in 2015, Tavernier has amassed 347 competitive appearances for the Gers and racked up 83 goals and 107 assists. That is a phenomenal return from a right-back and illustrates how impressive he has been for the Scottish giants over the years.
