Glasgow Rangers have brought in a host of fresh recruits to bolster Gio van Bronckhorst's squad throughout the summer transfer window.
John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, Ben Davies, and Malik Tillman have all been signed by Ross Wilson.
It now remains to be seen whether or not the Gers chief will do any more business between now and the end of the window, but they have been linked with a number of players throughout the summer who are still available on the market.
Back in June, it was reported that Rangers were in talks with Flamengo, alongside Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, to sign Brazilian gem Lazaro.
Over the weekend, Fabrizio Romano shared an update on interest in the attacker from elsewhere, Tweeting:
"West Ham approaches Flamengo for offensive midfielder Lázaro. £6m bid opening proposal has been rejected, Flamengo want more than this as @thalesoares reported. #WHUFC Negotiations will continue as many clubs are keen on signing Lázaro."
Wilson must now react to this news by reigniting the talks between the Light Blues and the Brazilian club as he could be Ryan Kent's eventual heir at Ibrox.
The former Liverpool man has less than a year to run on his current contract and the Scottish giants may need to start looking at what life beyond him on the left wing for Rangers may look like.
Jamie O'Hara recently tipped him to be good enough for the Premier League and whilst there are no recent rumours to suggest he will leave in this window, the Gers must be prepared for the possibility that he will leave - this summer or next when his contract runs out.
Kent has been a top performer throughout his Rangers career. Since arriving in Glasgow, the Englishman has scored 30 goals and assisted 49 in 178 matches in all competitions - a goal contribution every 2.25 matches.
Lazaro, meanwhile, has been in fine form in 2022 for Flamengo as he has scored eight goals and set up eight in 41 outings - a goal contribution every 2.56 games - leading to talent scout Jacek Kulig recently hailing him by saying that he is "on fire".
Like the Rangers gem, he is a left-winger who can also play through the middle or on the right and Kulig has noted his pace and dribbling as two of his biggest strengths, whilst Kent has been hailed for his speed and ability to beat defenders in the past by supporters.
This shows that they are similar players in style and their respective statistics indicate that Lazaro, 20, has the potential to replicate the ex-Liverpool man's impact in the final third if he can continue to develop whilst also adjusting to Scottish football.
Therefore, Wilson - irrespective of his current plans for the window - must reignite the club's interest in Lazaro as he could be their long-term heir to Kent's throne on the left wing.
The sporting director may not be planning to make another signing before the deadline but West Ham's attempted swoop for the Brazilian must bring a reaction from the ex-Southampton chief.
