A big update has emerged on Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie and interest in his services in the summer transfer window...

What's the talk?

Rangers insider The 4th Official has poured cold water on a report stating that a team south of the border are keen on a deal for the Ibrox academy graduate.

They Tweeted: "Please treat every transfer report that comes out right now with a healthy dose of scepticism (and that includes what I put out). We are at that stage where I am having to put out articles on Patreon that Robby McCrory to Manchester United is obviously not true."

This comes after the Scottish Sun claimed that the Red Devils, among other clubs in Scotland and England, are lining up a swoop for the shot-stopper.

The Gers are said to be bracing themselves for offers to come in for him, although this latest update rules out any coming from Old Trafford.

Gio van Bronckhorst will be buzzing

Van Bronckhorst will be left buzzing by this news as it means that McCrorie will not be tempted by the prospect of playing for Manchester United.

The thought of training against the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo on a regular basis, with the potential to play in the Premier League may be appealing to the youngster. Therefore, The 4th Official debunking the claim takes that dream off the table.

This, therefore, increases the chances of him remaining at Ibrox, barring any interest from another European giant, and van Bronckhorst will be delighted by that.

Whilst he is yet to make the breakthrough as a number one in Glasgow, he has shown that he is a capable deputy between the sticks. In his one Premiership outing last season, McCrorie recorded an excellent SofaScore rating of 7.4 against Celtic in the Old Firm - keeping a clean sheet and saving all three of the shots on his goal.

At 24, he is still very young for a goalkeeper and can be a future number one for the club, whilst potentially being second choice behind Jon McLaughlin next term. He is 16 years younger than Allan McGregor and this illustrates how much time he has left ahead of him to make a name for himself at Ibrox.

Therefore, van Bronckhorst will be keen to keep hold of him this summer to ensure that he has a strong group of goalkeeping options, which is why he will be buzzing with United's lack of interest in the Scot.
