Rangers have been dealt a body blow in the transfer market as a major update has emerged on a key target...

What's the talk?

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, via Sport Witness, Andreas Skov Olsen has 'no intention' to sign for Rangers and wants to join Club Brugge.

The report claims that he has turned down the Scottish giants and is now poised to join the Belgian side for a fee in the region of £5m.

It was reported over the weekend that the forward was closing in on a move to Brugge, but it was unclear as to whether or not he directly rejected the Gers or whether or not the deal was on a permanent or temporary basis.

Fuming

Gio van Bronckhorst will surely be fuming as this suggests that it is a clear decision from the attacker to reject the Gers in order to sign for Brugge. It is not a case of Ross Wilson failing to agree a deal by not bidding enough money to tempt Bologna into selling, which may at least encourage supporters as it is not from a lack of trying by the club.

The Dutch head coach will be gutted as Olsen has decided that he does not want to come to Scotland and work with him in the second half of the season. He has, instead, chosen to go and ply his trade in Belgium with Brugge and the ex-Feyenoord boss may be frustrated by this.

This will be particularly annoying for the Dutchman as Olsen could have been a strong addition to his squad, specifically when you consider his talent and potential. He has already experienced Serie A football with Bologna and has managed two goals and four assists in 18 league starts since the start of last season.

At international level, the winger has scored five goals and provided three assists in ten World Cup qualifying matches for Denmark. This highlights the game time he has already been able to get under his belt at the top level despite his young age, suggesting that he has the potential to develop further and become a quality player.

Therefore, van Bronckhorst will be fuming that he has decided to go and fulfil that potential whilst playing for Brugge instead of at Ibrox for Rangers in the Premiership moving forward.
