Glasgow Rangers have just over 24 hours left in the summer transfer window to set their squad for the first half of the campaign.

Ross Wilson has been a busy man throughout the off-season so far as he has sanctioned a number of arrivals and departures.

Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey both left the club to sign for Southampton and Ajax respectively and a host of fresh faces have come through the door at Ibrox; including John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence, Antonio Colak, Ben Davies, and Malik Tillman.

Since they made their last signing, though, the Light Blues secured their place in the group stages of the Champions League by beating PSV in a play-off clash.

However, one player who will not be joining Gio van Bronckhorst's squad's tour of Europe is Evander from FC Midtjylland, who was valued at a minimum fee of €10m (£8.5m).

The Gers were reportedly keen on the central midfielder but he now looks set to seal a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray this week, with the club expected to reach an agreement to snap him up from Denmark.

This is a big blow for the manager because the gem could have been an exceptional addition to the Light Blues squad this season.

Recently speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Pete O'Rourke hailed the gem, saying: "He's a good player, Evander, very versatile (and) can play in a number of roles in midfield, can play defensively or as an attacking midfielder as well so he will bring a lot of options to van Bronckhorst's squad if he was to make the move to Ibrox.

"24-year-old Brazilian, so he's got a little bit of Brazilian class as well in the final third, if he does play as an attacking midfielder, and he's done well for Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga, as well as in Europe as well."

As the reporter stated, the young talent is capable of making an impact going forwards as well as defending his own goal.

In the Superliga last term, Evander excelled in both boxes as he directly contributed to 18 goals and made 3.6 tackles and interceptions per game. He averaged a sublime SofaScore rating of 7.65 in the division and this shows that he is capable of delivering top-quality performances week-in-week-out.

Meanwhile, James Tavernier (22) was the only Rangers player with more goal contributions in the Premiership and no Light Blues squad member averaged 3.0 or more tackles and interceptions. The Gers captain was also the only player with a higher average rating (7.77) than Evander, which illustrates the quality that the Brazilian could have brought to the team.

At the age of 24, he has the scope to develop further and improve as he gains more experience and hits the peak years of his career, which is why he could have been an excellent signing for the future as well as the here and now.

Therefore, missing out on him is a late blow and one that van Bronckhorst may be frustrated with as he will now have to watch on from afar as Evander struts his stuff for Galatasaray.
