A major transfer update has emerged on one of Glasgow Rangers' loanees from the 2021/22 campaign...

What's the talk?

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that former Light Blues gem Aaron Ramsey has signed a mutual agreement with his club to end his deal with the Italian giants.

He tweeted:

"Official. Juventus and Aaron Ramsey have just parted ways by terminating the contract, agreement has been signed today. #Ramsey Ramsey will now be available as free agent - Leandro Paredes, among Juve targets as new midfielder but another departure is needed."

The Welsh international previously claimed that he would hold talks with the club after the end of his loan spell at Ibrox and the door to a move has now been opened by this news.

Big Scott Arfield upgrade

After the signing of Ridvan Yilmaz, Gers insider The 4th Official claimed that the club are in the market for a creative attacking midfielder.

This may be with a view to reducing Scott Arfield's role within the squad after he endured a difficult campaign last term. The veteran left a lot to be desired with a disappointing return in the Premiership and the Europa League whilst playing as a number 10 and as a winger.

Domestically, he played 29 matches and produced four goals, whilst failing to provide a single assist. In that time, he missed a whopping nine 'big chances' and only created two 'big chances' for his teammates.

Meanwhile, he played 12 matches in Europe and was not directly involved in a single goal - missing three 'big chances' and failing to create a single 'big chance'.

Rangers now have the opportunity to sign Ramsey without paying a penny in transfer fees and the Welshman would be a big upgrade on Arfield if they can work out a way to bring him back to Glasgow.

Martin Keown previously dubbed him an  “outstanding technician" and he showed glimpses of that during his time in Scotland.

In five Premiership starts, the 31-year-old chipped in with two goals and one assist - creating seven chances for his teammates in total. He then went away with Wales in June and caught the eye by providing seven key passes - registering one assist - in two games against Belgium and the Netherlands.

Ramsey has showcased his ability in the final third throughout his career. The gem was directly involved in 130 goals for Arsenal and 12 for Juventus during his time in England and Italy respectively, which proves that he is a player capable of being a difference-maker.

Therefore, he would be a big upgrade on Arfield if Rangers can work out a reasonable deal with the maestro, whether that is a standard contract or a pay-as-you-play type arrangement.
