Rangers set to keep Fashion Sakala at Ibrox this summer

A huge claim has emerged on Rangers forward Fashion Sakala and his future at Ibrox beyond the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?

Homme du Match have claimed that an offer has been turned down for the Rangers forward ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The French outlet stated that Auxerre wanted to take the winger on loan for the season and were met with a firm refusal from the Premiership giants.

Football Scotland followed this up with a report stating that the attacker will remain in Glasgow next season and will not be allowed to leave.

They claim that it remains to be seen whether or not the Ligue 1 side will come back in with a second offer but the Gers have no interest in selling or loaning him out.

Supporters will be delighted

The Light Blues supporters will be buzzing with this news as it would be a big mistake to allow Sakala to leave the club in the coming weeks.

He is an important member of the squad and has the potential to grow in importance as he gains more experience in Scotland.

In his first season with Rangers, the 25-year-old produced 12 goals and seven assists in all competitions as he played out wide and up front when required. This included nine goals and six assists in the Premiership – averaging a direct goal contribution every 98 minutes in the Scottish top-flight.

He also played a crucial role in the club’s only trophy win of 2021/22. Sakala scored three goals and assisted one in five Scottish Cup matches on Rangers’ way to beating Hearts 2-0 in the final – thanks to goals from Ryan Jack and Scott Wright.

What nationality does Mateusz Zukowski represent?

At the age of 25, the Zambian still has plenty of time to develop and improve as a player. He now has a full year of experience in Scotland and that will, hopefully, allow him to hit the ground running in the 2022/23 campaign to show the full scale of his talents.

His versatility and potential to make a huge impact at the top end of the pitch with goals and assists in the Premiership are two of the reasons why supporters will be delighted to learn that he is set to stay.

Hopefully, he will now kick on and push to land closer to 20 goals in all competitions next season whilst making more of an impact in Europe – after failing to score in the Europa League.
