An update has emerged regarding Glasgow Rangers' efforts to land their eighth signing of the summer transfer window...

What's the talk?

According to reports in Turkey, the Gers are now eyeing up a second Besiktas player after snapping up Ridvan Yilmaz earlier this week.

It is claimed that the Light Blues have made contact with the Turkish outfit over a potential deal to sign Kartal Yilmaz.

Ross Wilson is plotting a swoop to bring him to Scotland, and the player is said to be valued at a fee of around €1m (£800k).

Supporters will be buzzing

Ibrox supporters will be buzzing with this claim as Yilmaz is an exciting young prospect who could be an excellent addition to Gio van Bronckhorst's squad.

They will also be excited as it suggests that Ridvan may not be their last signing of the transfer window. Wilson has already brought in John Souttar, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Ben Davies and Malik Tillman alongside the Turkish left-back.

The club have backed Van Bronckhorst heavily in the market after losing both Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, and Kartal Yilmaz has the potential to be a smart piece of recruitment.

He spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan in the second tier of Turkish football with Ümraniyespor and enjoyed a terrific campaign as he showcased his quality as a box-to-box midfielder.

The 21-year-old averaged an exceptional SofaScore rating of 7.22 across 30 appearances in the division, showing off his creativity as he registered seven assists and produced two key passes per game. Yilmaz also had a big impact at the other end of the pitch as he made 3.9 tackles and interceptions and won 4.2 duels per match.

This shows that he has the potential to be a superb number eight for Rangers if he is able to make the step up to playing Premiership football. He has the ability to create chances on a regular basis in the final third whilst winning the ball back for his team consistently.

The Turkish gem also has the scope to develop even further in the future, as he has plenty of years left ahead of him to hone his skills, at the age of 21.

Therefore, supporters will be buzzing by the club's interest in the Besiktas talent and will be hoping that Wilson can get a deal over the line for him in the coming weeks.
