Aberdeen supporters have voted overwhelmingly in favour of signing Alex Schalk this summer, after it was confirmed this week that he will be looking for opportunities away from relegated Ross County.

County boss Stuart Kettlewell revealed Schalk won't be returning to the club ahead of their Scottish Championship bid, with Aberdeen reported to be interested in making a move for the 25-year-old.

Despite the Highlanders' relegation last term, Schalk had a fairly impressive season, netting 13 goals and assisting five times in all competitions.

With Aberdeen looking for additional firepower to help them compete towards the top end of the table next season, Schalk certainly fits the bill and on a free transfer is relatively risk free.

Supporters certainly appear to be in favour, with a massive 81% of respondents to a poll we published earlier this week voting in favour of the club making a move for the player.
