Timothy Weah has been speaking about his future this week, and it’s really good news for Celtic fans.

Celtic are set to undergo somewhat of a mini-overhaul this summer. The Bhoys’ squad is not in need of mass repair, but some trimming and re-shaping is definitely required.

Part of that overhaul will surely be to focused on youth – the January signings of Oliver Burke, Maryan Shved and Weah suggest that at least – and now Weah has given hope that he will stay beyond his current loan spell.

What did he say?

“It’s really up to the family,” said Weah, who is the song of legendary goalscorer George Weah, as reported by The Scotsman.

“We just have to discuss it and see what opportunity best fits me and is best for my career and future. Who knows? There’s always a possibility I could have another spell at Celtic.

“It’s been great for me at Celtic so far. I’ve taken every moment that I can stretch out of it. I’ve made three starts, a lot of sub appearances and scored four goals. I’ve got what I was looking for when I came here in January.

“I’m gaining experience and playing with a great group of guys. It’s really been amazing so far. Hopefully, we can finish the season the way we want to and I can have a season to remember.”

No-brainer

While Weah’s last name and obvious potential mean a permanent move would probably be far too pricey, another loan deal could certainly be on the cards.

Paris Saint-Germain don’t exactly have a shining record of developing young talent, and so the American starlet would be wise to switch allegiances to Parkhead, even if it is just for another season.

The 19 year-old has four goals in 15 appearances for the Bhoys, and his pace, skill and finishing will cause more and more problems for defenders as he grows and learns with more playing time.

As he noted himself, that playing time is actually available at Celtic, and a loan move is perfect for the club as well, addressing their need for more pace and goals up front without sacrificing the budget that will be spent on other areas.

This is a perfect move for both the player and club and Weah’s comments suggest it could well be on.
