Celtic have received a huge boost ahead of Thursday’s vital Europa League clash, as Rosenborg are set to field a reserve side ahead of their Norwegian Cup final.

Celtic already had an advantage of Thursday’s opponents, as Nicklas Bendtner’s jail sentence has ruled him out of the match.

It seems things could get even better for the Bhoys though, as Rosenborg boss Rini Coolen has claimed they will field a second-choice team.

The Norwegian champions are already eliminated from the competition, and having wrapped up a fourth consecutive league title last weekend they now prepare to face Stromsgodset in the cup final this Sunday.

He said: "We have to seriously consider the Cup Final, which is just a few days after we play Celtic.

"It's possible that some players will be rested for the Europa League match. "It will be very difficult to pick two full strength teams against both Celtic and Stromsgodset. I wish it was possible.”

The news will have Red Bull Leipzig fans fuming, as the Bundesliga outfit are currently level on points with Celtic.

They face Red Bull Salzburg in Austria before welcoming Rosenborg in their final fixture, while Brendan Rodgers’ side host Salzburg.
