The Athletic's Celtic correspondent Kieran Devlin has expressed concern over Scott Brown.

His comments came during a Q&A session following the Hoops' 2-2 draw against Livingston on Wednesday evening, in which Tom Rogic's 90th minute strike helped salvage a point for Neil Lennon's side to preserve their unbeaten start to 2020 domestically.

Celtic may have dropped points, although Rangers suffered a defeat to Hamilton in their game on Wednesday evening, so the reigning Scottish champions actually gained a point.

However, Devlin is concerned about one Hoops player.

What did he say?

After a supporter questioned what Brown was doing for Livingston's second goal, Devlin wrote: "Hadn't noticed him at the time, will have to rewatch it more carefully. Think Brown really needs a rest."

Is Lennon overworking him?

Devlin may be right - Brown could really do with a rest.

The 55-cap Scotland international has started 28 of Celtic's 29 Scottish Premiership outings, and has made a whopping 49 appearances for the Bhoys this season - a quite extraordinary amount considering that he made 51 in the entirety of last term, and we've only just entered March.

Of course, he is the club's captain and Lennon will presumably want his tough-tackling warrior featuring in as many games as possible, although there comes a point where this many fixtures will take their toll on a player who is 34 years of age.

Brown has played 4,278 minutes in total for Celtic this term, longer than he appeared for last term - in 2018/19, the Celtic No.8 played 4,249 minutes of football.

Devlin is right - it appears that Brown is being overworked and is truly in need of a rest, especially at his age.
