Celtic were in rampant form on Wednesday night as they recorded a 5-0 win over Hearts to extend their lead at the top of the SPFL to ten points.

What's the word?

There were plenty of outstanding individual displays worthy of a special mention in the aftermath of proceedings.

Odsonne Edouard failed to add to his exceptional goal scoring tally this season but he looked imperious at the spearhead of the attack once more.

From back to front the Hoops were dominant and impressive both individually and as a collective, but BBC Sport journalist Martin Dowden had to select one player as Man of the Match.

And he gave the honour to Callum McGregor, who scored the third goal on the night to take his season tally to six in the league, per BBC.

"You could argue numerous cases but McGregor stood out in this game. His contribution is often overlooked but he is a top operator who offers so much, capped with another goal in what turned into a rout."

Priceless asset

As Dowden alludes to in his verdict, the 26-year-old midfielder doesn't always get singled out for esteemed praise but that's a testament to his consistency.

The Scotland international consistently delivers high quality performances from the centre of midfield, and he has elevated his attacking contribution in recent weeks by contributing three league goals and five assists since the turn of the year.

He's the type of priceless asset who will be absolutely imperative to the club's ambitions in Europe this season, with the trip to Copenhagen for the first leg of their last-32 tie set to take place next Thursday.

McGregor is indeed top notch and thoroughly deserves every bit of acclaim that has come his way in recent weeks.
