He told the club’s website that he is keen to hit the ground running heading into the new season:

“We have been working hard on trying to get things ready for the start of the season and we hope to be in great shape for when the action starts.

“We will be doing all we can to make sure that we hit the ground running and, of course, during the coming season achieve as much as we can for our supporters.”

The Celtic players will be returning to pre-season in late June, with crucial Champions League qualifiers scheduled for only a few weeks later.

The Scottish club will play four friendlies in ten days in their pre-season tour of Slovenia and Austria.

They will face NK Celje in their first friendly on June 30th, followed by a match against Austrian side Sturm Graz on July 3rd.

They will then return to Slovenia to play league champions Olimpija Ljubljana on July 6th before finishing their tour against NK Maribor on July 9th.
