Celtic are tracking Sunderland and Scotland international striker Steven Fletcher, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The Bhoys have been tracking the player since January, the local paper reports, when the 29-year-old eventually moved to French side Marseille on loan after the Scottish club couldn’t meet his wage demands.
Fletcher is available on a free transfer this summer after not being offered a new deal to stay at the Stadium of Light.
He has made over 100 appearances for the Black Cats since joining from Burnley in 2012, but featured rarely under manager Sam Allardyce before departing on loan to Ligue 1.
The Scottish striker made 17 appearances for Marseille during the second half of last season, and scored three goals.
A move back to France is still a possibility, and there is also said to be interest from China, but it looks most likely that the player will return to the UK with a number of offers on the table as he looks for a new club.
