Celtic deny £6m bid for highly-rated midfielder

Reports in Israel have suggested that La Liga side Espanyol have made a bid of £6million for Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton but according to the Daily Express, Celtic sources have denied that any bid has been lodged.

But the same sources do suggest that there is interest in the Israeli international but no formal offers have been made.

In an interview earlier this year, Bitton declared that he was happy to stay at Celtic Park and that he would only consider a move to a big Premier League club if he could be a first team regular and the style of play suited him.

Arsenal are the club who have been heavily linked with the player in the past, and he has even admitted he would love to play for the Gunners.

The 24-year-old is currently with the Celtic squad in Slovenia for preseason training.

Last season,  Bitton made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish club, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.
