Callum McGregor played more minutes than anyone else in world football in the 2018/19 season, leaving Celtic fans amazed by the sheer brilliance of their midfield maestro.

According to the club's official website, the 26-year-old played 5,894 minutes of competitive football for club and country, more than any other player across the globe.

The central midfielder pipped centre backs Ruben Dias of Benfica (5,790) and Daley Blind of Ajax (5,819) to the honour.

The Celts player narrowly missed out on the most amount of games played across the year though. Having played 69 games (59 for the Bhoys and ten for Scotland), he was beaten by Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho (70) and Monterrey's Jesus Gallardo (72).

McGregor was a key part of both Neil Lennon's and Brendan Rodgers' Celtic sides last season as they completed a third consecutive domestic treble.

His first game of the season came back in July against Alashkert and he played his 69th and final game of the season in June, for Scotland against Belgium.
