Celtic have given themselves a massive opportunity to progress past FC Zenit in the UEFA Europa League after a fantastic 1-0 win in the first leg of their Round of 32 tie.

Callum McGregor netted late in the second half to make Celtic Park erupt with joy, a deserved goal on a night that the Hoops raised their game beyond recent poor domestic performances.

The Russian Premier League side were favourites coming into the match despite a long journey across multiple time zones and the fact they haven't played a competitive game in months.

However, Brendan Rodgers; side knew they had to produce a performance that supporters could be proud of and delivered massively, taking the game to their visitors from the off and putting them under significant pressure.

Fans were delighted with the win and performance and beyond the headline grabbing Callum McGregor had particular praise for players like Eboue Kouassi, who helped dominate possession and win the midfield battle.

The 20-year-old has been on the fringes of Rodgers' first team this season but was given a massive opportunity to impress on Thursday night. Thankfully for the Hoops he stepped up and is now in line to get a more regular start.
