Celtic confirmed on Thursday that right-back Anthony Ralston has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the club, extending his stay at the Scottish champions to the summer of 2022.

Ralston has shown great progress under Brendan Rodgers over the last 18 months, making 10 appearances in total, seven of which have come this season.

While he's found it difficult to permanently replace Mikael Lustig in Rodgers' starting eleven, he's shown enough promise for Celtic supporters to feel excited about his future at the Hoops.

Now he's signed his new deal, some are hoping he gets more game time in the New Year, with Lustig receiving some sharp criticism in recent weeks for under par performances.

On the opposite flank, Celtic have benefited from another home-grown talent bursting onto the scene and fans will be hoping that Ralston can emulate Kieran Tierney to become a firm fixture in the side for years to come.

They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on him signing a new deal...
