As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are closing in on sealing a £9m move for striker Odsonne Edouard after a successful season on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017/18.

The figure smashes the Hoops' current transfer record of £6m, which was paid for John Hartson way back in 2001 when Martin O'Neill was in charge of the club.

Sky report that Celtic have until Saturday to conclude a personal agreement with the forward or their exclusive arrangement with the Paris Saint-Germain will expire.

Edouard scored 11 goals and created four assists last season, emerging as a viable option to be a long-term replacement for star striker Moussa Dembele after sensational goals against rivals Rangers.

The £9m fee is expensive for the Hoops, but fans are delighted with the imminent deal regardless, with some believing they could double their outlay in the future if he continues to progress under Brendan Rodgers.
